Black Bean Hummus Recipe

This recipe puts a twist on the traditional hummus with a hint of Mexican flavor and a slight kick of garlic, lime, and spice. It's perfect to serve as a dip or spread.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp. tahini
  • 1 clove garlic quartered
  • 15 oz. can black beans drained, retaining 1 tbsp. of liquid
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Add ingredients to Twister jar in order listed and place Twister lid on jar. Hold Twister lid, and with other hand select "Speed 1" and blend for 5-10 seconds, or until desired texture is reached. Turn Twister lid counter-clockwise during blending. 
  2. To make in FourSide or WildSide+ jar, double the ingredients and stop blending to scrape the sides of the jar back down to the blade.

  • Great recipe that is delicious if your a hummus fan! So many uses, and a great healthy replacement for refried beans. Use on quesadillas, burritos, 7 layer dip or a Mexican pizza base. I like a extra tbsp of lime juice along with fresh cilantro in mine. I make double batches in my wildside jar, and use my own tahini which I also made in my wildside. This is a must try…delicious!

  • This doesn’t really work in the standard jars "unless" you double the recipe. There is otherwise not enough volume for the blades to work on… I ended up having to transfer the contents to my little cuisinart to get the job done.
    On the plus side it is a Great recipe.. especially with a few shreds of roasted red pepper added

  • You don’t cook the beans but canned beans are already cooked. If you buy dry beans a soak + cook them yourself it’s much cheaper and healthier (than using the preservatives from the canned beans).

  • You’d have to decrease the amount of ingredients since the Mini Twister jar is smaller. We would suggest using the FourSide or WildSide jar instead.
