Blendtec's Designer Series Blenders

Blendtec's customer service experts are here to help you with warranties and any questions you may have. You can reach us Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. MST by calling 1-800-748-5400. When you call, please have your machine with you so we can troubleshoot together. Also please be ready to tell us the following:
  • Blender serial number
  • Place of purchase
  • Date of purchase
  • Name of the jar you're using (WildSide+, FourSide, or Twister)
  • 4- or 5-digit number on the jar's bottom
Here are some simple troubleshooting steps you can try before you call us:
  • If your blender is abnormally loud: Run a blend cycle without the jar on the blender.
    • If the noise diminishes, the jar needs to be replaced.
  • If your blender has a burning smell: Run a blend cycle without the jar on the blender.
    • If the burning smell continues, please call customer service to complete more troubleshooting.
    • If the burning smell stops, the jar needs to be replaced.
  • If your blender is smoking: Run a blend cycle without the jar on the blender.
    • If the blender continues to smoke, please call customer service to complete more troubleshooting.
    • If the blender stops smoking, the jar needs to be replaced.
  • If your blender’s LCD shows the message Over-temp: Unplug the machine and allow it to cool for 20 minutes.
And now for some tips on prolonging the life of your blender jar(s):
  • Spin the shaft at the bottom of the jar before you put the jar on the blender. This step will help break any sugar built up on the seal.
  • If you are going to store the jars for a while, put some food-grade oil around the seals. (The seals are self-lubricating, so when you use the jars regularly you do not need to add oil.)
  • If you have more than one jar, alternate their use to keep the seals lubricated.

  • I bought new Blendtec Total on May 18/2018 from Best Bay. On the fourth day of the usage , I noticed there is no light on the display. The blender works, just there is no light on the display.
What should I do? Should I return it to the store? I don’t want to deal with warranty repairs on the first week of the usage.

  • My plug gets very hot when using the blender. It burned my fingers after I unplugged it. Is this normal or do I need to have it serviced?

  • Hello,

i would make sure that you are hand drying it after to avoid hard water stains. Also try using vinegar and baking soda to clean it out if food has stained it.

  • Hello,

If you are getting cavitation in your jar, i would suggest using more liquid. If you are making a thick blend that is normal to happen with the Wildside jar. You can always call customer care and they can troubleshoot with you to make sure you’re blender is okay.

  • Hi, I notice smoke coming out of my blendtec. How do I get it from fixed?

  • I get really upset every time I use my blendtech because an air bubble prevents me from blending anything, I can’t make a smoothie in less than 10 minutes because I’m constantly turning it off to remove the air bubble. Is there a way to see if something is wrong with mine? It seems like my mom has the same probelm with hers.

  • I purchased my blendtec in 2012. I use it once per month. This morning I had it on smoothie setting and it stoped after 20 seconds. I plugged into another outlet – but the LCD screen is blank – the unit appears to have lost al power.

  • I used my BlendTec to make powdered sugar (granulated sugar + arrowroot powder). After running at level 9 for 20-30 seconds, it appeared to stop blending (like when there’s an air pocket at the bottom). I removed the jar and noticed the blade had seized into place. The sugar also had small grey-ish/black bits throughout and a metallic taste. I rinsed the jar in warm water and the blade spins freely again, as it did before the cycle, but the sugar is unusable as it’s filled with metallic bits. Is there a way to make powdered sugar without seizing the blade and causing these metallic particles to be released?

  • I have had my blendtec for about six years now, and use it almost once daily on the smoothie setting. for the past week, when I use the smoothie preset, it is unusually loud. after six years of daily use, I know exactly what it should sound like. it sounds much louder and higher pitched, almost like the soup setting, or it is spinning an air pocket (which is not the case). it is making everyone at home cranky in the morning. still blends ok and no leaks, smoking or overheating. what’s going on?

  • My blender is very loud and there is also a black residue left where the canister meets the base. Almost like a black dusting. Is this normal?

  • Hi Betina,
Here are some tricks that should help get rid of the odor:
Fill the jar with hot water.
Add 1-2 teaspoons of liquid chlorine bleach.
Stir for 10 seconds to mix water and bleach. Let mixture stand in jar for 5 minutes.
Empty water/bleach mixture. Turn jar upside down on dish rack until dry.

    Others have found success with:

    - Add the juice of 1 lemon, 2-3 tbsp of baking soda, and some water to jar. Run on a high speed for about 10 seconds, pour the water out and scrub with a non-scratch sponge.
    - Vinegar mixed with baking soda and some water will also work. Run on a high speed for about 10 seconds, pour the water out and scrub with a non-scratch sponge.
    - Add 1-2 tbsp powdered dishwasher detergent dissolved in 1-2 cups hot water, let soak for 1 hour. Then, scrub with a non-scratch sponge.
    - Combine Lemi Shine® Original with some powdered dishwasher detergent and let soak in the jar for 20 minutes.

  • There’s a foul odor coming from the seal and compartment under the blade. How do I take it apart to clean the seals and compartment under blade?

    Betina on

  • Hi Collin,
You cannot disable the cycle count on the machines. It was originally designed into our machines when we were only making them for commercial use, but we decided to keep the feature when we started making them for home use. We’ve kept the feature because our customers seem to love knowing how much they use their Blendtec.

  • So far so good. Just bought the Classic 570.

I don’t like the tally of uses that display on the LCD INFORMATION CENTER. How can I disable this unnecessary information from appearing.
And why did you program such a needless function, unless I am missing the big picture here.

    Cheers,
    Collin

  • Hi Eileen,

Sometimes certain foods/spices can stain/cloud the jar over time. We do not recommend using castor oil. However, here’s an article with some cleaning tips: http://www.blendtec.com/blog/how-to-maintain-your-blender-jar/.

If the above tips aren’t working for you, we recommend that you:
    1. Fill the jar with hot water.
    2. Add 1-2 teaspoons of liquid chlorine bleach.
    3. Stir for 10 seconds to mix water and bleach. Let mixture stand in jar for 5 minutes.
    4. Empty water/bleach mixture. Turn jar upside down on dish rack until dry.

    Others have found success with:
    - Juice of 1 lemon, 2-3 Tbsp of baking soda, and some water. Then, run on a high speed and scrub with non-scratch sponge.

    - Vinegar mixed with baking soda (and some water) will also work. Then, run on a high speed and scrub with non-scratch sponge.

    - Or, 1-2 Tbsp. powdered dishwasher detergent dissolved in 1-2 cups hot water, left to soak for 1 hour. Then, scrub with non-scratch sponge.

    - To get ‘smells’ out, just grinding up a lemon works like it does for your garbage disposal.

Combine Lemi Shine® Original with some powdered dish washer detergent and let soak in the jar for 20 minutes.

  • My plastic Bledtec canister always gets discolored. The new one my friend just bought me is already starting to change color…parts of it do not look clear anymore. My brother suggested I rub castor oil in the plastic so it will not absorb. Would you recommend that…or do you have any suggestions?

    Thank you!

  • thank for your reply, and it is helpful to me. :)

    melody chung on

  • Hi Melody,
We use a grease that is only in the bearing.
The bearing has a small amount of grease in it that is contained within the bearing, the bearing has its own seals to help contain the grease within the bearing, it is very unlikely that the grease would leak out of the bearing, travel upward against gravity, and then leak into the product in the jar.

  • Hi John,
This should not be happening. Please call 800.748.5400 for assistance. Be sure you are near your blender when you call.

  • hello~ I would like to know that which kind of food-grade oil is fitted to the seals of the jars, what kind of the Operating Temperature Range of the food-grade oil could be used on the seals?

    melody chung on

  • Hi!

When I run my blendtec and use the increase speed. I notice increase on 1-4 but beyond that it sounds like it does not increase. My 4 setting sounds the same as my 10 setting.

    John on

  • Does it always show the same number, or does the number increase?
The numbers you are looking at may be the cycle count. It shows that you have used the machine 522 times. There is nothing to be concerned about. It sounds like it is running great.

    Kelli Farley on

  • Hello Mary, this is Daniela,
may I ask you a question? My Blendtec from the Professional Series is a refurbished one. It shows the message 00522 after I do liquefying for my green juices. Is this something I have to be concerned about?
Thank you very much for a response
