  2. Heat berry puree, sweetener, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat until bubbly. Remove from heat and slowly stir in gelatin until no clumps are visible.
  3. Pour into a 9x13 pan lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for at least one hour.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, use agar powder in place of gelatin.

I made these today with my daughters. Fairly easy to make and came out quite good. Not nearly as sweet as the store bought fruit snacks and actually taste more like fruit. Hooray! Also, they aren’t as chewy, more like a fruit snack meets Jello Jiggler. We used sugar in our recipe as well as unflavored gelatin packets. One thing to be careful of is to gradually add the granules of gelatin or you will end up with gelatinous clumps – we got a few and I had to fish them out of the puree. We used thawed Radar Farms Triple Berry for our fruit (from Costco), and I didn’t want to take the time to strain out the seeds so it is a little seedy, but the kids didn’t complain. They had fun cutting out the shapes and eating them.

Tried this with strawberries, blueberries, and apple juice. Found it to be exceptionally bland with an overtaste of gelatin. A most disappointing recipe. In addition I didn’t like the "firm jello" texture. Won’t be trying this again.

I would think that you can use any fruit that you son enjoys. You will have to play with the amount of gelatin to get them to set up the way you prefer since some fruits have a higher moisture content. Good luck!

I made this today, I only used frozen strawberries. I used a little bit more honey and vanilla. I put all this in the blendtec. It was thick at first then i added more honey to thin it out. I let it boil, took it off the stove, then added one at a time a total of 4 pks of un flavored knox gelatin . I did not have parchment paper so i just sprayed pam in my dish turned out perfect.

Probably not fresh pineapple as that won’t set in gelatin recipes…
I would be interested in what you try and how it turns out…
