Hello, I Have a Blendtec Total Blender…It is amazing, but I am having trouble with the almond butter.

Recently I have been trying to make the almond butter. It is a pain to make. A pain suffered mostly by my blender. I follow the instructions to the letter, yet, when I start blending in order to make the almond butter, the instructions in the recipe manual fall short, and I have to scrape and blend and scrape and blend…etc. I do not mind the scraping, but every time I start the blending cycle in order to make the butter, the blender starts fine but then as I ramp up the revolutions it finishes the cycle with a few spams.

Long story short, the original container became damaged, the blade got loose and wobbly. I had to order a new container. Also, at the time of the incident with the blade, the rotating socket, where the bottom of the blade connects to the motor, began to emit some smoke. I ordered a new 4 side container (because I do not think the motor was damaged)…

So today my new container came. I put it to the Almond Butter challenge again. 3 cups of roasted almonds…etc…it performed well, but with the same spasm, scrapes, and blends…

As you may assume, I feel like I am going down the same road that might lead me to the previous situation…

If you have any tips, suggestions, comments, I would greatly appreciate them…

Hi Melanie, the recipe instructions are written for the Twister jar, which is round and has tines. You turn the jar during blending to scrape the almond butter toward the blade. You can use the WildSide jar for this recipe. Midway through blending, you may need to turn off the motor, take off the lid, and scrape down the sides of the jar. The result will still be delicious almond butter. :-)

I keep trying to make raw almond butter with the wild side jar using 1.5 c almonds and a tbl of oil. I have blended it 10 times at speed 7 and 9, scraping to the center each time and it never got smooth. Suggestions?

I am so excited I have to share this somewhere and this seems the best place. I have been struggling to make a creamy raw almond butter in my Blendtec with the twister jar. So far all my attempts gave me smooth but dry butter, even adding some oil. I had success tonight and this is what I did. FIRST I ground the nuts in my Wildside jar with the grind grain setting. Then I put the ground raw almonds in the Twister Jar and again used the grind grains setting. I had the smoothest creamiest raw almond butter before the cycle even finished. Amazing! I am sure I could have done the whole thing in the Twister Jar and will do that next time. The secret is in the setting :)
