How to Maintain your Blender Jar

maintain your blender jar

A little over a year ago, we shared with you tips on how to clean your blender jars. Due to the many comments on that post, we've decided to give you some more tips on the best ways to maintain your Blendtec blender jars.

Clean your jar after every use.

How to Maintain your Blender Jar

In the blender:

  1. Use your Spectacula (with the Twister jar) or your Spoonula (with the FourSide and WildSide* jars) to scrape out all the delicious food you've just made.
  2. Fill the jar with 1 to 1½ cups water and 1 to 2 drops of soap. Secure the lid.
  3. Press "Pulse" a few times.
  4. Rinse, drain, and dry.

By hand:

  1. Use your Spectacula (with the Twister jar) or your Spoonula (with the FourSide and WildSide jars) to scrape out all the delicious food you've just made.
  2. Wash in the sink with soapy water.
  3. Use a nonabrasive dish cloth. (Using abrasive products, such as Scotch pads and nylon brushes, can scratch the jar.)
  4. Rinse, drain, and dry.

In the dishwasher:

  1. Use your Spectacula (with the Twister jar) or your Spoonula (with the FourSide and WildSide jars) to scrape out all the delicious food you've just made.
  2. Fill the jar with 1 to 1½ cups water and 1 to 2 drops of soap. Secure the lid.
  3. Press "Pulse" a few times.
  4. Place the jar on the top rack of your dishwasher. Do not run on the heat setting.

Note: Lemon-based detergents can etch the jars, making them look cloudy.

How other customers wash their jars:

  1. Fill the jar with 1 to 1½ cups water and 1 to 2 drops of soap. Secure the lid.
  2. Select "Batters." (This cycle is great for cleaning your jar after making thicker blends, like bread doughs and batters.)
  3. Rinse, drain, and dry.
OR
  1. Rinse your jar under warm running water.
  2. Fill the jar with 1 to 1½ cups water and 1 to 2 drops of soap. Secure the lid.
  3. Press "Pulse" a few times.
  4. Rinse, drain, and dry.
  Bonus Tips:
  • Clean your jar immediately after use, don’t let food sit in it.
  • Before each use, turn the blade with your hand from the bottom of the jar by spinning the drive shaft.
  • If the jar hasn’t been used over an extended period of time, you may want to put warm water in it and let it sit for 15 minutes, dump it out and then turn the blade with your hand to ensure it’s not stuck.

*The WildSide jar is no longer available for purchase. Please check out our new and improved WildSide+ jar. You can also look at our Vita-Mix replacement jar option.

I have read a few places tips that suggest lightly putting your hand on top cover (no pressure) to help improve on the life of the jar. Those tips claim that this was conveyed to them by Blendtec representatives and/or the rep doing the demo of the appliance in certain stores.

What is the Blendtec official stand on this one?

We suggest applying no pressure on the jar and allowing the jar to move around as needed.

I bought the 575 2.5 years ago and just found couple scratches inside the jar after blended with some dry black beans. The blender is mainly for preparing baby food and I don’t feel comfort after seeing these scratches inside the jar. What should I do? Is it still under warranty after 2.5 years?

    Hi Ray,
It’s likely that your jar will need to be replaced. A member of our customer service team will reach out and assist you. That’s great that you clean it after each use, that’s very important to keep it working at its best. Here are some other tips we recommend for keeping your jar performing well:
    1. Spin the blade manually by the shaft on the bottom of the jar before each use to lubricate the blade shaft.
    2. Don’t use your jar as a storage container or let liquids sit in the jar overnight.
    3. Wash your jar or use the Clean cycle immediately after use.
