Savory Ice Cream Recipes

Ice cream doesn’t always have to be sweet. In fact, savory ice cream is one of the most exciting trends to hit the culinary world. With a Blendtec blender, these inventive recipes are just a few simple steps away. Our no-churn method means no special equipment is needed, just fresh ingredients, a little creativity, and your high-powered Blendtec blender. Let’s dive into some of our favorite savory ice cream recipes to make your summer menu a whole lot more interesting.

Savory Ice Cream Recipes

Savory ice cream flips the script on what you would traditionally consider ice cream. Instead of sugary sweet flavors like vanilla or chocolate, it leans into savory flavor profiles. Herbs, cheese, vegetables and spices are all ingredients that you can use in savory ice cream. Lots of savory ice cream recipes are gently sweet, which helps create a balance between the umami and salty flavor profiles.

Instead of keeping savory ice cream in the dessert category, it’s something you might pair with a charcuterie board, drizzle with olive oil, or serve alongside an entree. With the help of your Blendtec blender, you’ll be able to try savory ice cream with just a few simple steps. All of our recipes are no-churn as well, which makes them even more simple since you don’t need to have an ice cream machine.

Parmesan Black Pepper Ice Cream

Parmesan black pepper ice cream is rich, nutty and spicy. You can serve it with crispy prosciutto or pancetta tips and toasted figs or a spoonful of fig jam to complement the cheesy nuttiness of the parmesan. To make this ice cream even more savory, drizzle with balsamic glaze before serving. You can enjoy this ice cream with a spoon, or in small scoops on top of a crostini.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups heavy cream (very cold)
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • ¾ cup finely grated Parmesan
  • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • Optional: dash of white wine vinegar or lemon juice for brightness

Sweet corn and thyme ice cream is a comforting recipe that has an earthy sweetness. The fresh thyme adds a savory edge that brings the sweet corn flavor to a whole new level. The buttery, smoky flavors of the grilled salmon are balanced beautifully with the mellow earthy flavors of the savory ice cream. To elevate this savory ice cream even more, you can drizzle it with hot honey, sprinkle chile flakes on top, or serve with grilled peaches and plums.
