How to Make Peanut Butter
How to Make Peanut Butter in Your Blendtec
Homemade peanut butter is a favorite among many Blendtec enthusiasts. When making nut butters, we highly recommend using our Twister jar, however, we understand that not everyone has one. While our Twister jar makes thicker blends much easier, it's not necessary. Below, you will find instructions for making peanut butter with your FourSide, WildSide+ or Twister jar!
Ingredients
3 cups roasted and unsalted peanuts
1 tsp kosher salt
2 tbsp peanut oil
Instructions
FourSide or WildSide+ Jar
- Add peanuts and salt to FourSide or WildSide+ jar and secure lid.
- Blend on Low speed for 15 seconds, then increase speed to High and blend until 50 seconds.
- Using a spatula or Spoonula, move peanuts towards center of jar, add oil and secure lid.
- Blend on medium to medium-low speed for 50 seconds, then blend on medium to medium-high speed for 50 seconds.
You can also make peanut butter without the added oil. Instead of adding the oil after the second cycle, simply blend the peanut butter for an additional 50 seconds on Low speed. Then, continue blending for two additional cycles as directed above.
Twister Jar
- Reduce ingredients by ½.
- Add peanuts and salt to Twister Jar.
- Blend on a medium to medium-high speed for 50 seconds or until desired texture is reached. Turn lid counterclockwise while blending.

Katie, homemade PB should be good for 3-6 months, if it lasts that long!
What’s the shelf life of the peanut butter once made?
Add two tablespoons of maple syrup for amazing flavor.
Made this today and worked great. Used unsalted Virginia peanuts, just 1/4 tsp of salt, and coconut oil. Didn’t have peanut oil but the coconut oil worked great and you don’t notice the taste difference. Comes out warm and runny but I imagine it’ll thicken once it cools. Tastes fresh and great.
I only have the big Wildside jars and it it “overloaded” after 10 seconds on low initially but I just stopped it, mixed in the oil with a spatula, then restarted it. Once things got mixed up more, it got thinner and easier. I may start with 6 cups of peanuts next time to see if more helps or not.
For a crunchy PB, first chop about a ½ cup of peanuts to a medium chop; set aside. After your PB has been almost completely blended to your desired consistency, add the chopped peanuts and blend in for 5-10 seconds longer in the blender – either the WildSide, Fourside or the Twister jar. I use the Twister jar. Wonderful—it beats any commercial preparation!
