Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup currants or raisins
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup margarine or butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt to Mix n Blend II mixing bowl. Cut in butter, and add currants or raisins.
  3. Gradually add buttermilk, beating at Speed 5 until dough clings together.
  4. Turn onto floured surface, and gently roll into ½-inch thickness. Cut with 2-inch round pastry cutter or glass, and place on cookie sheet.
  5. Brush tops with buttermilk, and bake for approximately 15 minutes.
