Also please be ready to tell us the following:
- Blender serial number
- Place of purchase
- Date of purchase
- Name of the jar you're using (WildSide+, FourSide, or Twister)
- 4- or 5-digit number on the jar's bottom
- If your blender is abnormally loud: Run a blend cycle without the jar on the blender.
- If the noise diminishes, the jar needs to be replaced.
- If your blender has a burning smell: Run a blend cycle without the jar on the blender.
- If the burning smell continues, please call customer service to complete more troubleshooting.
- If the burning smell stops, the jar needs to be replaced.
- If your blender is smoking: Run a blend cycle without the jar on the blender.
- If the blender continues to smoke, please call customer service to complete more troubleshooting.
- If the blender stops smoking, the jar needs to be replaced.
- If your blender’s LCD shows the message Over-temp: Unplug the machine and allow it to cool for 20 minutes.
- Spin the shaft at the bottom of the jar before you put the jar on the blender. This step will help break any sugar built up on the seal.
- If you are going to store the jars for a while, put some food-grade oil around the seals. (The seals are self-lubricating, so when you use the jars regularly you do not need to add oil.)
- If you have more than one jar, alternate their use to keep the seals lubricated.
I used my BlendTec to make powdered sugar (granulated sugar + arrowroot powder). After running at level 9 for 20-30 seconds, it appeared to stop blending (like when there’s an air pocket at the bottom). I removed the jar and noticed the blade had seized into place. The sugar also had small grey-ish/black bits throughout and a metallic taste. I rinsed the jar in warm water and the blade spins freely again, as it did before the cycle, but the sugar is unusable as it’s filled with metallic bits. Is there a way to make powdered sugar without seizing the blade and causing these metallic particles to be released?
It sounds like there may be an issue with the drive shaft on your jar. Please give our customer service team a call at 1-800-748-5400 and they’ll help you out!

I have had my blendtec for about six years now, and use it almost once daily on the smoothie setting. for the past week, when I use the smoothie preset, it is unusually loud. after six years of daily use, I know exactly what it should sound like. it sounds much louder and higher pitched, almost like the soup setting, or it is spinning an air pocket (which is not the case). it is making everyone at home cranky in the morning. still blends ok and no leaks, smoking or overheating. what’s going on?
My blender is very loud and there is also a black residue left where the canister meets the base. Almost like a black dusting. Is this normal?
