10 Uses for Almond Milk
You may have seen our recent post titled "5 Recipes to Make with Almond Milk." Almond milk is a great alternative to dairy milk for people who have dairy allergies or are lactose intolerant. But it's also a great beverage in its own right and has many benefits. For example, almond milk contains vitamins A, D and E; magnesium; and potassium. You may be surprised to learn that almond milk has as much calcium as dairy milk, so there's no need to worry that your bone health will suffer from switching to this lactose-free alternative.
Almond milk also has fewer calories than dairy milk. Even if you're not lactose intolerant or allergic to dairy, you may simply not like the taste of dairy milk. Almond milk can be a good substitute because it has a different flavor and slightly different consistency than dairy milk: nutty, light and crisp. Because almond milk is a great alternative to dairy milk, here are 10 more ways you can incorporate almond milk into your diet.
Refreshing drink: Almond milk is great in recipes but is also delicious on its own. An added benefit is that it contains 60 calories per cup versus the 90 calories in a cup of skim milk.
Smoothies: Swap almond milk for dairy milk or yogurt in your favorite smoothie recipe.
Allergy-friendly mashed potatoes: When making mashed potatoes, use almond milk and olive oil instead of milk and butter.

I have been searching for the benefits of almond milk.
Hi Medea,
Thanks for the question. A study reported in the European Heart Journal several years ago indicates that adding cow’s milk to tea minimizes the health benefits of tea. The researchers found that the culprit was the caseins in the milk. Caseins are a group of protein found in dairy products. Almonds don’t contain caseins, so adding almond milk to tea should’t negate the health benefits of drinking tea.
Does almond milk diminish the benefits of Tea as regular milk does?
