Recipes That Sneak Spinach into Your Diet

facebooktwittergoogle_pluspinterest

You’ve most likely heard how healthy spinach is for you. Since there are so many benefits, it might be hard to remember them all, so here are just some of the reasons we should all eat spinach:

  • Spinach is a rich source of vitamins A, B2, B6, C, E, and K.
  • This leafy green also contains calcium, iron, folate, manganese, and magnesium.
  • And don’t forget about the protein and fiber in spinach.

Not sure what all those nutrients do? Let me tell you. Because of these nutrients, eating spinach can reduce your risk of cancer, improve brain functioning, slow aging, reduce your risk of heart disease, boost your immune system, protect your vision, lower high blood pressure, help maintain bone health, and decrease inflammation.

Wow!

But it gets even better: You can reap all these benefits in very few calories—just 7 calories per cup of spinach!

Even with all the benefits of spinach, I’m guessing many of us struggle to include it in our daily fare. Maybe you or your family equate spinach with the soggy, slimy green stuff you get from a can. I know I did–until I was introduced to fresh spinach, which is a far cry from Popeye’s cans of spinach. But if you’re still a little hesitant, here are some recipes that will allow you to “sneak” spinach into your diet. The green hue will be the only reminder that you’re eating something made with this superfood!

All your recipes look good, but you should try and offer some vegan options since the world is becoming more vegan every day. Pssst! Most vegans own a Blentec for their Green Smoothies.

Hi Sharon–thanks for the comment. Many of the recipes on our site are vegan, including Peaches and Cream Dream and Velvety Spinach Soup, which I mentioned in this post. Other vegan recipes on our site include (but aren’t limited) to Almond Butter, Apple Compote, Creamy Almond Salad, Curried Cauliflower Soup, Gazpacho, Garden Cashew Cream, and many of our smoothies and other beverages. Many other recipes can easily be converted into vegan dishes by substituting vegetable broth for chicken broth or almond milk for cow’s milk.

And don’t worry–we continue to develop additional delicious vegan recipes!
