Rated 5 out of 5 by from My New Favorite Appliance! Much to my husband's dismay, I've been wanting a high-powered blender for years. He caved when we saw the 475 on Groupon for half the price of other Blendtec blenders. I was worried it wouldn't be as powerful or useful as the more expensive ones but it does not disappoint. My breakfasts have consisted of green smoothies for several years now, but having this blender has turned my husband into a green smoothie fan as well! Additionally, soups, dressings, and ice cream are super easy and delicious with this thing plus clean-up is a super easy. I was a believer before I even got the Blendtec but now my super skeptical, frugal husband is too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving my Blendtec I bought this after Christmas and have been addicted since. I make my smoothies for the week and put them in mason jars so every morning I have something to pull from. It does a great job of really breaking down the pulp to offer a smooth smoothie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Blender Love this blender, took some time getting used to but I am making soups, coffee drinks, ice cream and smoothies all the time. Easy to keep clean and makes my daily smoothies in 8 minutes or less, including cleaning up. I make my own food creations so I know what is in them.  I save money because I am not at starbucks or tropical smoothie buying them because I can make them just as good or even much better!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Blender Ive had my blendtec classic for about a month now and remain quite impressed. This far Ive used it primarily for getting more veggies in my diet via shakes and smoothies and a couple soups. Finally I'm able to get restaurant quality results from a blender. It is simple to use and easy to clean. Maybe the lid could fit a bit better, but thats the only thing I can find te least bit wrong. Love it and use it daily, very pleased wth this purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Value, low hassle I did much research for a better blender. Decided to go with the lowest model of the highest brand. There are 2 high brands out there, the other brand's lowest model is in $300 range while Blendtec's lowest model is in $200 range. Value is important to me. As for performance of power, ease of use, safety, and ease of clean, they ranked 5 stars in all these categories. The power and ease of clean are most important to me. Sufficient power so that I do not need to work in small batches, saves time and hassle. Ease of clean - hard plastic that no one will break, one unit without multiple parts that takes hassle to assemble. I hate hassles. Now I make various healthy dessert drinks for my family instead of going out for expensive $5 drinks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent starter model This model is a very inexpensive way to step up to a high quality blender without spending too much (got mine for $200 on Groupon). It is very powerful and I use it just about every day to make frozen fruit smoothies. The controls are very simple, which is nice for my purposes. I guess paying more gets more preset modes, but I really don't need more than just good smoothies. I might upgrade to the wildside jar if I find myself needing to make larger batches for parties or something, but the standard jar works great for me so far. Oh, and this blender fits nicely under my cabinet, so I can easily tuck it out of the way when I'm not using it. I'm super happy with my purchase and love the peace of mind that comes from the warranty. I highly recommend this model!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Blender Ever I've only had this about a month but...Wonderful blender. Works amazing, esp making smoothies! Crushes that ice with no chunks leftover ! Cleaning is so easy and simple. No multiple parts to disassemble and assemble. Just add water and a drop or two of detergent...put the container back on the base..whirl it a few seconds..rinse and done. Perfect design for ease of clean up! Motor is not too noisy either. The top has pouring slots so you do not have to remove lid to add liquid.Genius ! Absolutely love, love love it !

Two questions: What is the difference between this blender and the Total Blender other than additional button features? And, this blender is sold at Sam's Club. Does it carry the same 8 year warranty when purchased through them?

can the 475 make an ice cream

Asked by: elaf
Yes, all of our blenders can make ice cream. Many of our machines have a preset cycle button for Ice Cream, but when a machine does not have that cycle, choosing a similar cycle or recreating that cycle manually will do the trick. Here is the link to our blend cycle conversion guide: http://www.blendtec.com/blog/blendtec-cycle-conversions/

All of our blenders can can grind dry grains, although the flour will not be as fine as what the Kitchen Mill produces. Dry beans will grind although not necessarily into a flour.
